What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?

This Privacy Policy applies to arcweight.com and the Arcweight Chrome extension, collectively our "Services." This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, applications, or other services that provide their own separate privacy statements or policies. Our Services may contain links to other sites, but Arcweight, Inc. ("Arcweight") is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices of those sites. Visitors to and users of our Services are referred to individually as "User" and collectively as "Users."

By visiting or using our Services, you expressly consent to the information handling practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe we may have collected information from a person under 18, please contact us at info@arcweight.com.

Collection and Use of Information

We gather various types of information from Users of our Services, as explained below. Some of this information is provided directly by you and other information may be gathered by observing how you interact with our Services. We use this information to operate, personalize, and improve our Services.

Information You Provide

We receive and store information you provide directly. This includes:

• Account information: When you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. We do not receive or store your Google password.
• Connection Strength ratings: The ratings (Strong, Medium, or Weak) you assign to your LinkedIn connections, along with the LinkedIn profile URL and display name of each rated person.
• LinkedIn identity information: Your LinkedIn profile slug (the URL identifier), which we use to associate your ratings with your LinkedIn identity.

While you can choose not to provide certain information, this may result in your being unable to use some features of the Services.

LinkedIn Connections Data (Bulk Rate)

Our Services include a Bulk Rate feature that allows you to upload your LinkedIn connections file (obtained from LinkedIn's "Download Your Data" tool) to rate connections efficiently. When you upload this file:

• The extension parses the file and stores the extracted connection data — including names, LinkedIn profile URLs, company names, position titles, connection dates, and email addresses — in your browser's local storage only.
• This data is never transmitted to Arcweight's servers. It is processed and stored entirely on your device and is used solely to populate the Bulk Rate interface and match names for rating purposes.
• The ratings you apply through Bulk Rate are saved to our servers in the same manner as individual ratings (described above).
• You can clear this locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser's extension data or by uninstalling the extension.

Information from the Invite Flow

Our Services include an invite feature that allows you to ask a shared connection to rate someone. When a person receives and responds to an invite:

• We collect the recipient's LinkedIn identity (name and profile slug) and the rating they submit, even if they do not have an Arcweight account.
• We track the status of invite links (whether they have been sent, viewed, or completed).
• If the recipient later installs the extension and creates an account, their pre-account ratings are automatically migrated to their authenticated account.

Information Collected Automatically

When you interact with our Services, our hosting provider (Google Firebase) may automatically collect standard server log information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use HTTPS encryption for all communications between your browser and our servers. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics beacons, or advertising scripts on our website. We do not collect device identifiers or location information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and provide the Services, including displaying your ratings across LinkedIn and calculating reachability scores
• Authenticate your identity and maintain your account
• Facilitate the invite flow and pre-account rating migration
• Communicate with you about the Services, including updates and changes
• Comply with legal obligations

Path Sharing and Cross-User Data

Arcweight includes a Path Sharing feature that, when enabled, allows other Arcweight users to see how you have rated a specific person in the context of exploring an introduction path through shared connections. This feature is controlled by a toggle in the extension popup, and you may enable or disable it at any time.

When Path Sharing is enabled, your rating of a person is only disclosed to another user if that user (a) shares a mutual connection with the rated person, and (b) is actively viewing that mutual connection context within the extension. Your ratings are never displayed publicly, in bulk, or outside of this specific path context.

Cross-user rating lookups are handled by a secure server-side function that returns only the rating value, never any other personal data. If no rating exists, the function returns no information, preventing any leakage about whether a person uses Arcweight.

Email and Other Communications

We may contact you by email to send you information about the Services, including updates, enhancements, or other related information, or to communicate with you about your use of the Services.

The invite flow may compose messages on your behalf (via LinkedIn messaging or email), but these messages are only sent when you explicitly initiate them.

Will Arcweight Share My Personal Information?

We do not rent or sell your personal information. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

• Path Sharing: As described above, if you have enabled Path Sharing, your individual ratings may be visible to other Arcweight users in the specific context of introduction paths.
• Service providers: We use third-party service providers (such as Google Firebase for hosting and authentication) to operate the Services. These providers only access your information as necessary to perform their functions and are not permitted to use it for other purposes.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law or court order, to enforce our rights or agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Arcweight, our users, or others.

Business Transfers

If Arcweight is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or use of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have.

Data Security

Arcweight uses reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. All communications between your browser and our servers use HTTPS encryption. Authentication is handled through Google OAuth, so we never receive or store your password.

While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Connection Strength ratings are retained until you delete them individually or request deletion of your account. Invite tokens and pre-account ratings are retained until the associated account is deleted or the data is no longer needed for the Services. After account deletion, we may retain certain information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

What Personal Information Can I Access?

Through the Services, you may access and manage the following information:

• Your email address (as provided by Google OAuth)
• Your connection ratings
• Your Path Sharing preferences

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
• Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us at info@arcweight.com.
• Data portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Objection: You may object to certain processing of your personal information.
• Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@arcweight.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

For California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

For EEA/UK residents: Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the rights listed above and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may amend or update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page, and if we make material changes in the way we use personal information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our website or sending you an email prior to the change becoming effective.
